Do you have Olympic fever, yet?

Media coverage of this summer’s Games is just beginning to ramp up, but the fever’s coming a little earlier to Southern, thanks to the presence of thirteen tough and determined women.

All but two of the team members are from California (six, including team captain Brenda Villa, are from Southern California), and the team is staying in Long Beach as they train. They are training at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base, so there’s plenty of reason for Southern Californians to take a personal interest in cheering on their US Women’s Olympic Water Polo Team. They’re the US team, but, more than any other state, this team belongs to California.

Head Coach Adam Krikorian will be guiding the team, consisting of: Betsy Armstrong, Kami Craig, Heather Petri, Kelly Rulon, Jessica Steffens, Brenda Villa, Elsie Windes, Lauren Wenger, Tumua Anae, Annika Dries, Courtney Mathewson, Melissa Seidemann, and Maggie Steffens.

You’ll be able to get a glimpse of the team in action if you’re in Los Alamitos on Independence Day. They’ll be playing an exhibition game during the City of Los Alamitos’ Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular festivities.

Alandale Insurance Agency couldn’t be prouder to have these fine athletes training in our hometown. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to watching them make us proud on the international stage in London this summer.
